"When human beings began to increase in number on the earth and daughters were born to them, the sons of God saw that the daughters of humans were beautiful, and they married any of them they chose. Then the Lord said, 'My Spirit will not contend with humans forever, for they are mortal; their days will be a hundred and twenty years.' The Nephilim were on the earth in those days—and also afterward—when the sons of God went to the daughters of humans and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown." The "Men of Renown" referenced in Genesis 6:1-4 are often misrepresented as ancient Greek heroes, such as Herakles or Jason. While those men may have existed and could have a blood relation to the Nephilim, they were not ''the'' "Men of Renown" mentioned in Genesis. That passage references heroes from an epoch that has no name. In an age so ancient, modern humanity is just beginning to reconcile the fact that civilizations have walked the Earth for close to 500,000 years. == Ancient Lineage == There are many stories of individuals with extraordinary abilities from every culture on Earth. These abilities are wide-ranging in nature, from healing and telekinesis to the manipulation of energies. Many of these abilities come from the natural progression of evolution within a species. Abilities that manifest most strongly in individuals have a high likelihood of descending from the Nephilim. Those bloodlines emerge in the magical families within the Sault Story-verse. (See Magical Family Relations).
