Overview

[edit | edit source]

The Sodomites are a group of people dedicated to a lifestyle of hedonism. Although there are no true biblical connections between the Sodomites and the ancient city, modern members of this group revere the ancient reputation of the city.

Modern members of this cult have a rigorous induction path that challenges a person's sexual preferences. However, persons of any sexuality are welcome among them. The induction process includes several tasks and trials that every member must endure. There is no way to "fail" these trials, but a person's performance will greatly influence their role within the cult. Those seen as being the most successful during the inductions will ultimately be tracked towards leadership, while those who underperform will fill smaller "worker" roles.

Sodomite Titles & Symbology

[edit | edit source]

Sodomites have several ways to communicate membership status and purpose. A primary method is symbology that holds specific meanings. A common symbol for Sodomites is the number "8" with three stars formed in a curve underneath the number and a depiction of the Greek word for "Love", ἔρως (érōs)[1] resting within the top loop of the number 8. Another symbol for Sodomites is a cartooned depiction of the God Eros.

Prominent female Sodomites are sometimes given the title of Little Hathor. Hathor being the Egyptian Goddess of sensuality and attraction. The Sodomites accept and venerate the Ancient Egyptian culture as being a "mother" culture of the Greeks and Romans.

Μικρά Ἅθωρ; (Mikrā́ Háthōr) — "Little Hathor"

Senior members sometimes gain distinctive titles among the Sodomites. For instance, a male member who has achieved a new role within the cult will sometimes begin to be referred to as a son or daughter of Eros.

Example: If your name is Sam, Sodomites may call you "Sam-Eros" or Samiero. Samiera is its feminine form.

More examples of this practice include: Jamieros, Gregieros, Ashlieros, Brittieros, etc.

Other ways Sodomites show the affinity to Eros is by attaching "Son/Daughter of Eros" to their names.

Example: Λούθερ Σόλτ, υἱὸς Ἔρωτος

(Louthér Sólt, huiós Érōtos) — "Luther Sault, son of Eros"

Additional Symbology

[edit | edit source]

Other symbols used by Sodomites include:

  • An arrowhead in the shape of an infinity symbol and the inscription of the deadly sins embedded within it.
  • An image of lips with the number 8 tattooed on the bottom lip. A bead of saliva is falling from the mouth, and the tongue is erotically positionedf an open female mouth, the number 8 replacing the tongue.

Founding Of the Cult of Sodom

[edit | edit source]

The Sodomites were formed of 13 original members in the late 1990's. Those original 13 members were from all over the world, having met online through shared interests online. Through a Reddit thread, the original 13 members met and talked for over a year before finally drafting a charter and signing in person. The first gathering was conducted in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The Originals

[edit | edit source]

The original 13 members consisted of 8 women and 5 men. A woman, Bailey Carter, was elected as the first chairman of the Sodomite cult. That first election set the tone for the Sodomites as an innovative group of people who weren't biased towards men or women.

The Sodomites, in their present form, have existed since 1992. Of the original 13 members, only four are still alive and are active participants in Sodomite affairs. The four remaining original members are Jason Hillman, Jasmine Foley, Rebecca Tran, and Harriet Milsap. These original members are treated with reverence among the Sodomites.

Public Perception

[edit | edit source]

The Sodomites are not a very well-known organization, but for those who are aware of them, there is no consensus on the nature of the cult. Many of the informed individuals see the cult as mostly benign, and as long as they remain so, are not a threat in any way. However, there are several people who consider the Sodomites as a new form of Satanic worship. While the Sodomites do consider some of the ideas of Satanists as worth practicing, on the whole, Sodomite members are not very religious people at all. Instead, most people would understand them as being “spiritual” and not traditionally religious.

Membership

[edit | edit source]

Membership in the Cult of Sodom is a coveted title for those inducted, as not everyone who lives in the Sodomite compound is considered a member. Membership is achieved by completing the Trials of Induction and receiving votes of acceptance from no fewer than three current and active Sodomite members. Membership comes with several amenities and perks, especially while in the Sodomite compound. A list of amenities is as follows.

  1. Members can live within any of the "Homes" located on the compound property.
  2. Members have access to compound resources such as the Sodomite fleet, bath house, Gymnasium, and Clubhouse.
  3. Members are allotted a stipend based on membership level and role. Its purpose is to free its members from societal worries so that their focus rests solely on the Sodomite goals.
  4. Members are to train upcoming members or initiates in the ways of the Sodomite. Initiates must follow commands given by any full member.
  5. Members have access to funding for their own education and education for their children. The Sodomites have forged relationships with institutions all over the world for the purpose of educating their members.

Sodomite Attire

[edit | edit source]

Members of the Sodomites typically dress in provocative, body-conscious clothing that reflects the cult’s hedonistic values. In social or festival settings, this can include colorful rave wear, bikini-inspired outfits, lingerie sets, and other shock-value ensembles, often paired with symbolic accessories or tattoos.

A strong in-world look would be: a modernized Greco-Roman festival outfit with a sheer wrap skirt, fitted top or bralette, gold trim, and an 8-shaped accessory or tattoo motif.

Sodomite attire often mirrors the compound’s architecture by combining classical draping, modern cuts, and ornamental details, resulting in clothing that feels both sensual and ceremonially elegant.

Attire associated with the Sodomites often blends classical draping and modern provocative styling, using flowing fabrics, ornate details, and symbolic motifs to harmonize with the compound’s architecture.The-Sault-Story-verse.md+1

The Sodomite Temple

[edit | edit source]

The Sodomite temple is not a "temple" in the way the word means traditionally. For Sodomite members, the "temple" functions more as a clubhouse for special events and gatherings of the members themselves. The Sodomite compound/complex is located within the Ridgeview Municipal area and was one of the first large land areas purchased from the municipality. The complex sits on 33 acres of land, tucked in a very wooded area of Middle Georgia. Mostly flat, the complex is built with several concepts in mind.

Architectural styles include classical "public" buildings that include the bathhouse, the amphitheater, and the central forum of the complex. Those buildings are connected by a Roman-style concrete road. Private homes could be built in any style and were purchased and custom-built by specific members or families who had achieved Sodomite membership. A natural creek existed on the property already and has been modified to represent the flowing waters of a gentle river through the compound.

An Ottoman-style wall enclosed the entire compound with specialized Gatehouses placed at the four cardinal directions. Upon entering the compound, visitors must first register with gate security and then be inspected at an administrative building attached to the gatehouse; any items or belongings are also inspected at this time. The grounds of the compound are meant to work with nature as well as remain contemporary, resulting in an appearance of classical and modern aesthetics. The Sodomite council is committed to renewable resources as well as low carbon footprints and thus, the Sodomite compound has become an example of developing smart, ecologically friendly infrastructure from the very beginning.

Along the inner roads of the compound are several mixed-use spaces including vegetable gardens, sitting gazebos, elaborate drinking fountains, parks, and other quality-of-life features. Every walkway is covered by a custom awning to keep high levels of sun off of the Sodomites moving throughout the compound. Driving paths are wide enough to fit one golf cart-sized vehicle going in either direction. The symbols of the Sodomites are also represented in the grounds, as the main "road" through the compound is shaped into the number 8.

Living Spaces

[edit | edit source]

Sodomite members who have reached high status levels have private homes built on the compound in varying styles. Those members who are not privileged enough for private homes live in Sodomite housing based upon their roles within the cult community. Brand new members are almost always housed in the Sodomite dormitories, a co-ed inhabited building constructed in an old-world, Gregorian style. These dormitories sometimes have sporting and artistic competitions that provide unique identities for those seeking Sodomite membership.
